Worker's Compensation Board (WCB)

WCB is a disability insurance system set up under the Alberta Workers Compensation Act that protects both employers and workers against the impact of work related injuries.  It compensates injured workers for lost income, health care, and other costs related to work injuries.  It also protects employers from being sued by workers if they are injured at work. If you are injured at work:

1. Immediately inform your employer of the injury.  They will fill out an Employer's Report which they will send to WCB.
2. See a doctor about your injury.  Your physician will complete a Doctor's Report and send it to WCB.
3. You must complete a Worker's Report and send it to WCB.
4. Visit a physical therapist for treatment.  Your physical therapist will also complete a report called an Assessment Report and submit it to WCB.

Once all of the reports are received by WCB and the claim is approved, you will be allowed 21 treatments over a 6 week period.
