Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) is a total system for the diagnosis and treatment of myofascial pain syndromes that occur in the musculoskeletal system. These syndromes are chronic pain conditions that occur when there is no obvious injury or inflammation. The treatment utilizes acupuncture needles to penetrate deep injured muscles that have become contracted or shortened. The goal of treatment is to release muscle shortening, which presses on and irritates the nerve. |
